What is LIFE
LIFE (Learning is for
Everyone) is the name of the Eastern Region of the Aim Higher:
P4P Partnership in the South West. It delivers the Aimhigher
Programme in Bournemouth Dorset, Poole, South Somerset and South
Wiltshire. Please see the ‘Partners’
section of this website for a detailed list of all partners
involved.
LIFE is working with
target schools to provide activities such as Information sessions,
HE awareness, Taster days and Aimhigher days. For more information
please see 'Schools, Colleges and Community Projects'.
Target groups include young people from low HE participation neighbourhoods and social groups as well as those with no tradition of University-level education in the family.
The partnership also aims to raise awareness of several key vocational areas that are central to the sub-region’s future economic and entrepreneurial development. These include community arts, engineering, health and social care, design, construction and media.
The Life Partnership’s vision is one of equalising opportunity allied to social justice, which will enable people of all ages with talent to be helped to meet, and even exceed their aims, learning goals and aspirations. The partnership encourages all major stakeholders to work together for the benefit of the communities they serve.
Key Priority areas are:
- Raising awareness of Higher Education to under-represented groups
- Provision of information, advice and guidance to young people, parents/carers and teachers about the benefits of and opportunities for HE study.
- Preparation for HE study
- Raising aspirations and motivation so that young people feel confident to go on and seek HE entry
- Raising attainment and enriching, accelerating and extending the school and college curriculum
- Facilitating progression routes and curriculum development and pathways to HE
- Sharing or providing access to HE facilities
- Developing partnerships, research and development and disseminating good practice
