Monitoring, Reviewing and Evaluation

The LIFE Partnership has taken account of the National monitoring and evaluation strategy for Aim Higher and has worked closely with regional monitoring and evaluation development.

Monitoring
Monitoring is concerned with checking that agreed policies, procedures and systems are in place and being implemented.

Evaluation
This process is, in general, concerned with judging the overall value of initiative and is, consequently, associated with a project’s effectiveness in achieving its stated aims and objectives. Evaluation can be carried out in many situations and at various levels as illustrated in the following:

• Attendance at events or activities
• How clients feel about events or activities
• Awareness of the existence of a service or project
• Knowledge
• Understanding
• Attitude
• Intention to do something
• Behaviour
• Use of services
• Client satisfaction
• Long term outcomes (requiring ongoing evaluation)
